Collaborative Network Design

Our model of collaborative network design helps establish networks that have the right people involved and engaged in the optimal activities for the purpose at hand. Working closely with network stakeholders we get a well-rounded view of the intent of the network and an understanding of the give-and-get among stakeholders that must occur.

With this understanding and our collaborative network model we help design your network, including a roadmap of how to launch and build toward the vision for the collaboration.

The Launch

Ensure that your network and its teams are off to a good start, whether launching a new alliance or when reaffirming alliance intent and values can help improve operations. Designing how network participants formally interact with one another is a key component of governance. Creating charters that establish expectations at all levels promotes success. We work with you to build an effective design and launch process that can be used again and again.

Governance

"A governance framework can make or break an alliance."

-Steve Steinhilber, Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Cisco

Most simply governance is how collaborating organizations manage their joint work. Governance includes the management structure, roles and responsibilities, communication protocols, and decision-making within the network. It must be fit-for-purpose and aid the network in achieving outstanding outcomes for all participants.

We work with you to examine current governance and make recommendations designed to better focus the resources and currencies of the partners on achieving their objectives. We take an entrepreneurial perspective on governance and look at the following five factors:

  • How work is allocated
  • How communication and information flows
  • How decisions are made
  • How accountability is established
  • How progress is reported

Governance is one of the pillars of network strength.
